The Effect of a Single Session of Balance and Coordination Training on Cognitive Function in Older Adults

The cognitive decline that is characteristic of older adults has led researchers to seek methods for improving functions in this population the short and long term. One broadly studied aspect relates physical activity interventions their impact on adults. This study examines effect a single session balance coordination exercises compared aerobic or control reading. included 30 physically active participants (23 females), with an average age 73 (±5) years. completed computerized tests assess attention executive five separate sessions: two without three (aerobic exercise; reading while sitting). interval between each was at least weeks. order random. While no differences were seen types intervention function scores, our findings indicate higher scores test than condition. suggests may benefit from 30-min prior performing attention-demanding tasks.
